✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by me at al-Hudaybiyyah while I was kindling a fire under a pot of mine, or under an earthenware pot of mine, and lice were falling on my face. He said, “Are your vermin harming you, O Ka‘b?” I said, “Yes, O Messenger of Allah.” He said, “Then shave your head and offer a sacrifice, or fast three days, or feed a faraq among six poor persons.”

What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • Ibn Ḥazm

machine translationThe sound report of Kaʿb b. ʿUjrah is what Ibn Abī Laylā narrated, while the narrations of the others are unsettled (muḍṭarib) and mistaken. It is therefore obligatory to abandon what is unsettled in it and to return to the narration of ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, which is not unsettled.
