What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • Abū Bakr Aḥmad b. al-Ḥusayn al-Bayhaqī

machine translationThe correct version is that it is from Sulaymān b. Mūsā, from Jubayr, as a mursal report (mursal).

  • Bazzār

machine translationBy what is narrated in the Ṣaḥīḥ of Ibn Ḥibbān from the ḥadīth of Jubayr b. Muṭʿim, that the Prophet ﷺ said: "All the passes of Minā are a place of slaughter, and in all the days of al-Tashrīq there is slaughter." I say: This was narrated by Aḥmad and Ibn Ḥibbān from the ḥadīth of ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Abī Ḥusayn, from Jubayr b. Muṭʿim. Al-Bazzār said in his Musnad: Ibn Abī Ḥusayn did not meet Jubayr b. Muṭʿim, so it is broken in transmission (munqaṭiʿ). If you say: Aḥmad and al-Bayhaqī also narrated it from Sulaymān b. Mūsā, from Jubayr, from the Prophet ﷺ, I say: Al-Bayhaqī said: Sulaymān b. Mūsā did not meet Jubayr b. Muṭʿim, so it is broken in transmission (munqaṭiʿ).

  • Ibn Kathīr

machine translationAḥmad narrated it in this way, and it is broken in transmission (munqaṭiʿ), for Sulaymān b. Mūsā al-Ashdaq did not meet Jubayr b. Muṭʿim.

  • Bazzār

machine translationIts chain contains a break (inqiṭāʿ), for it is from the narration of ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Abī Ḥusayn from Jubayr b. Muṭʿim, and he did not meet him.

  • Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr

machine translationThey say that it is among the reports that Ismāʿīl b. ʿAyyāsh alone connected, and he was not corroborated in that; rather it is mursal. Aḥmad b. Ḥanbal said: The correct version of it is mursal; with us it is not through the route of Ismāʿīl b. ʿAyyāsh.

  • Abū Bakr Aḥmad b. al-Ḥusayn al-Bayhaqī

machine translationAl-Bayhaqī mentioned the disagreement about its chain of transmission, and its origin has already been given in the Book of Ḥajj, and this addition is not preserved (maḥfūẓ).
