✧ I asked Abu al-Tufayl, "What are the three corners that are supported by the Kaaba?" Abu al-Tufayl said, "I asked Ibn 'Abbas about that, and he said: When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ halted at Marr al-Zahran during the truce with Quraysh, word reached the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that Quraysh were saying, 'You are pledging allegiance to weak ones.' His companions said, 'O Messenger of Allah, if only we could eat from our camels, eat their fat and sip the broth, and rise tomorrow so that when we enter upon the people we have vigor.' He said, 'No, but bring me the surplus of your provisions.' They spread out their leather mats and gathered upon them all kinds of their food, and he prayed for blessing for them in it. They ate until they were full to the point of satiety, then they gathered the leftovers into their bags. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon Quraysh and Quraysh gathered near the Stone, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ uncovered his right shoulder, then the Prophet ﷺ said to his companions, 'Let not the people see any weakness in you.' He touched the Yemeni Corner, and when Quraysh disappeared, he and his companions walked until they touched the Black Stone. He circumambulated three rounds, and that is why Quraysh said as they passed by them while they were doing ramal, 'It is as if they are gazelles.' Ibn 'Abbas said, 'And it became a sunnah.'"
