✧ A Chapter, the Virtue of Makkah

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ عَنْ يَحْيَى عَنْ زَكَرِيَّا قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَامِرٌ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُطِيعٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مُطِيعًا يَقُولُ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ يَوْمَ فَتْحِ مَكَّةَ «لَا يُقْتَلُ قُرَشِيٌّ صَبْرًا بَعْدَ هَذَا الْيَوْمِ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ» وَلَمْ يُدْرِكِ الْمُسْلِمُونَ أَحَدًا مِنْ كُفَّارِ قُرَيْشً غَيْرَ مُطِيعٍ وَكَانَ اسْمَهُ الْعَاصِ فَسَمَّاهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مُطِيعًا

Translation

✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say on the day of the conquest of Makkah: "No Qurayshi will be killed in restraint after this day until the Day of Resurrection." No Muslim encountered any of the disbelievers of Quraysh except Muti'. His name was al-'As, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ named him Muti'.
