✧ Ibn ʿAbbās and some people from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ sent me to Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, to ask her which days the Prophet ﷺ fasted most. She said, "Saturday and Sunday." I returned to them and told them, but they rejected that from me and thought that I had not memorized correctly, so they sent me back. She said the same thing, and I told them. They all stood up and said, "We sent you about such and such, and you claimed that she said such and such." She said, "He spoke the truth: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to fast on Saturday and Sunday more than any other days, and he would say, 'They are two festivals for the polytheists, so I like to differ from them.'"
