✧ A chapter on fasting on the day of Ashura

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَالِدٍ الْأَحْمَرُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ صِلَةَ بْنِ زُفَرَ قَالَ

كُنَّا عِنْدَ عَمَّارِ بْنِ يَاسِرٍ فِي الْيَوْمِ الَّذِي يُشَكُّ فِيهِ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ فَأُتِيَ بِشَاةٍ فَتَنَحَّى بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ فَقَالَ عَمَّارُ بْنُ يَاسِرٍ «مَنْ صَامَ هَذَا الْيَوْمَ فَقَدْ عَصَى أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ»

✧ We were with 'Ammar b. Yasir on the day that was doubted whether it was from Ramadan, and a sheep was brought. Some of the people moved aside, so 'Ammar b. Yasir said, 'Whoever fasts this day has disobeyed Abu al-Qasim ﷺ.'
