✧ Fasting of the Traveler

أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْقُرَشِيُّ أَبُو زَيْدٍ بِالْبَصْرَةِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ طَاوُوسٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

«خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ إِلَى مَكَّةَ فَصَامَ حَتَّى بَلَغَ عُسْفَانَ ثُمَّ دَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَرَفَعَهُ إِلَى يَدِهِ لِيَرَاهُ النَّاسُ فَأَفْطَرَ حَتَّى قَدِمَ مَكَّةَ وَذَلِكَ فِي رَمَضَانَ»

✧ "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out from Madinah to Makkah and fasted until he reached ʿUsfān. Then he called for water and raised it to his hand so that the people could see him, and he broke his fast until he arrived in Makkah. That was in Ramadan."
