✧ Fasting of the Traveler

أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ خَرَجَ إِلَى مَكَّةَ عَامَ الْفَتْحِ فِي رَمَضَانَ فَصَامَ حَتَّى بَلَغَ الْكَدِيدَ ثُمَّ أَفْطَرَ وَأَفْطَرَ النَّاسُ مَعَهُ وَكَانُوا يَأْخُذُونَ بِالْأَحْدَثِ فَالْأَحْدَثِ مِنْ أَمْرِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ»

✧ "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out for Makkah in the year of the conquest during Ramadan and fasted until he reached al-Kadīd, then he broke his fast, and the people broke their fast with him. They used to follow the most recent of the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ commands, the most recent."
