أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ قَحْطَبَةَ بِفَمِ الصِّلْحِ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَبِيبِ بْنِ عَرَبِيٍّ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ

أَنَّ سُرَاقَةَ بْنَ جُعْشُمٍ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَخْبِرْنَا عَنْ أَمْرِنَا كَأَنَّا نَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ أَبِمَا جَرَتْ بِهِ الْأَقْلَامُ وَثَبَتَتْ بِهِ الْمَقَادِيرُ أَوْ بِمَا يُسْتَأْنَفُ؟ قَالَ «لَا بَلْ بِمَا جَرَتْ بِهِ الْأَقْلَامُ وَثَبَتَتْ بِهِ الْمَقَادِيرُ» قَالَ فَفِيمَ الْعَمَلُ إِذًا؟ قَالَ «اعْمَلُوا فَكُلٌّ مُيَسَّرٌ»

✧ Suraqah b. Ju'shum said: O Messenger of Allah, inform us about our affair as if we were looking at it: is it by what the pens have recorded and the decrees have established, or by what is initiated anew? He said: “No, rather by what the pens have recorded and the decrees have established.” He said: Then what is the point of action? He said: “Act, for everyone is facilitated.”
