✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb over the ṣadaqah, and Ibn Jamīl, Khālid b. al-Walīd, and al-ʿAbbās refused to pay. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Ibn Jamīl finds nothing to resent except that he was poor and Allah enriched him. As for Khālid, you wrong Khālid, for he has kept his coats of mail and his equipment for the sake of Allah. As for al-ʿAbbās, he is the paternal uncle of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so it is upon me, and the like of it.” Then he said, “Did you not know that a man’s paternal uncle is a man’s twin brother, or his father’s twin brother?”
