✧ A man came to Umar asking him, and he began looking at his head once and at his feet another time because of the hardship he saw in him. Umar said to him, "How much wealth do you have?" He said, "Forty camels." He said: Ibn Abbas said: I said, "Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth: 'If the son of Adam had two valleys of gold, he would seek a third, and nothing fills the belly of the son of Adam except dust, and Allah turns in mercy to whoever repents.'" He said: Umar said to me, "What are you saying?" He said: I said, "This is how Ubayy b. Ka'b taught me to recite it." He said: "Let us go to him." He said: So he went to him and said, "What does this one say?" Ubayy said, "This is how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me to recite it."
