أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ حَدَّثَنَا زِيَادُ بْنُ عِلَاقَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْمُغِيرَةَ بْنَ شُعْبَةَ يَقُولُ

قَامَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ حَتَّى إِذَا تَوَرَّمَتْ قَدَمَاهُ فَقِيلَ لَهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَتَفْعَلُ هَذَا وَقَدْ غُفِرَ لَكَ مَا تَقَدَّمَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ؟ قَالَ «أَفَلَا أَكُونُ عَبْدًا شَكُورًا»

Translation

  4. Ziyād b. ʿIlāqah
  5. al-Mughīrah b. Shuʿbah

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood (in prayer) until his feet became swollen. It was said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, Allah has forgiven you your past and future sins.’ He said: ‘Should I not be a thankful slave?’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1419)
