✧ A Chapter about the Prayer for the Funeral

أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ خَلْفٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ الْأَزْرَقُ عَنْ عَوْفٍ عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ

«مَنِ اتَّبَعَ جَنَازَةَ مُسْلِمٍ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا حَتَّى يُصَلِّيَ عَلَيْهَا ثُمَّ يَقْعُدُ حَتَّى يُوضَعَ فِي قَبْرِهِ فَإِنَّهُ يَرْجِعُ وَلَهُ قِيرَاطَانِ مِنَ الْأَجْرِ وَهُمَا مِثْلُ أُحُدٍ وَمَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيْهَا ثُمَّ رَجَعَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُوضَعَ فِي الْقَبْرِ فَلَهُ قِيرَاطٌ»

✧ «Whoever follows the funeral of a Muslim out of faith and seeking reward until he prays over it, then sits until it is placed in its grave, will return with two qirats of reward, each like Uhud. Whoever prays over it and then returns before it is placed in the grave will have one qirat.»
