✧ A chapter on standing up for the funeral

أَخْبَرَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ سِنَانٍ الْقَطَّانُ بِوَاسِطَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ كُرَيْبٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا وَاقِدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ قَالَ

شَهِدْتُ جَنَازَةً فِي بَنِي سَلِمَةَ فَقُمْتُ فَقَالَ لِي نَافِعُ بْنُ جُبَيْرٍ اجْلِسْ فَإِنِّي سَأُخْبِرُكَ فِي هَذَا بِثَبْتٍ

✧ I attended a funeral among the Banu Salimah, so I stood up. Nafiʿ b. Jubayr said to me: "Sit down, for I will inform you about this with certainty."

  • حَدَّثَنِي مَسْعُودُ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَلِيًّا بِرَحْبَةِ الْكُوفَةِ يَقُولُ لِلنَّاسِ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «يَأْمُرُنَا بِالْقِيَامِ فِي الْجَنَازَةِ ثُمَّ جَلَسَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ وَأَمَرَ بِالْجُلُوسِ»
