أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مِسْعَرٌ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ الْيَشْكُرِيِّ عَنِ الْمَعْرُورِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ

قَالَتْ أُمُّ حَبِيبَةَ اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكَ لِي فِي زَوْجِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَبِي أَبِي سُفْيَانَ وَأَخِي مُعَاوِيَةَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «لَقَدْ سَأَلْتِ اللَّهَ عَنْ آجَالٍ مَضْرُوبَةٍ وَآثَارٍ مَبْلُوغَةٍ وَأَرْزَاقٍ مَقْسُومَةٍ لَا يُعَجَّلُ مِنْهَا شَيْءٌ قَبْلَ حِلِّهِ فَلَوْ سَأَلْتِ اللَّهَ أَنْ يُعِيذَكِ مِنْ عَذَابِ النَّارِ أَوْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ كَانَ خَيْرًا أَوْ كَانَ أَفْضَلَ »

✧ Umm Habibah said, "O Allah, bless me in my husband, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and my father Abu Sufyan, and my brother Mu'awiyah." The Prophet ﷺ said, "You have asked Allah about fixed terms, attained ends, and apportioned provisions, none of which is hastened before its due time. If you had asked Allah to protect you from the punishment of the Fire or the punishment of the grave, it would have been better or more virtuous."

    يرويه علقمة بن مرثد واختلف عنه فرواه ليث بن أبي سليم عن علقمة عن المعرور بن سويد عن أم سلمة ورواه المسعودي عن علقمة عن المستورد بن مخرمة عن ابن مسعود ورواه الثوري ومسعر عن علقمة عن المغيرة بن عبد الله اليشكري عن المعرور بن سويد عن ابن مسعود وهو الصحيح

    machine translationʿAlqamah b. Marthad narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. Layth b. Abī Sulaym narrated it from ʿAlqamah, from al-Maʿrūr b. Suwayd, from Umm Salamah. Al-Masʿūdī narrated it from ʿAlqamah, from al-Mustawrid b. Makhramah, from Ibn Masʿūd. Al-Thawrī and Misʿar narrated it from ʿAlqamah, from al-Mughīrah b. ʿAbdillāh al-Yashkurī, from al-Maʿrūr b. Suwayd, from Ibn Masʿūd, and this is the correct (ṣaḥīḥ) one.

Marthad, from al-Mughīrah b. ʿAbdullāh al-Yashkurī, from al-Maʿrūr b. Suwayd, from ʿAbdullāh. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Masʿūdī differed from them and narrated it from ʿAlqamah b. Marthad, from al-Mustawrid b. al-Aḥnaf, from Ibn Masʿūd, and he was mistaken in it (wahima). The correct version is the statement of Abū Khālid al-Dālānī and those who followed him.
