أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي حُيَيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْمَعَافِرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ

تُوُفِّيَ رَجُلٌ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «يَا لَيْتَهُ مَاتَ فِي غَيْرِ مَوْلِدِهِ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ لِمَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ » إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ إِذَا مَاتَ فِي غَيْرِ مَوْلِدِهِ قِيسَ لَهُ مِنْ مَوْلِدِهِ إِلَى مُنْقَطَعِ أَثَرِهِ فِي الْجَنَّةِ

✧ A man died in Madinah, and the Prophet ﷺ prayed over him and said, 'Would that he had died somewhere other than his birthplace.' A man among the people said, 'Why, O Messenger of Allah?' He said, 'When a man dies somewhere other than his birthplace, a space is measured for him from his birthplace to the end of his trace in Paradise.'
