أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ أَخْبَرَنَا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ كَثِيرِ بْنِ أَفْلَحَ عَنْ عُبَيْدٍ سَنُوطَا عَنْ خَوْلَةَ بِنْتِ قَيْسٍ قَالَتْ

أَتَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ طَعَامًا فَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ فِيهِ فَوَجَدَهُ حَارًّا فَقَالَ «حَسِّ» وَقَالَ «ابْنُ آدَمَ إِنَّ أَصَابَهُ بَرْدٌ قَالَ حَسِّ وَإِنَّ أَصَابَهُ حَرٌّ قَالَ حَسِّ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us, and I brought him some food. He put his hand in it and found it hot, so he said, 'Hass' (a sound of discomfort), and said, 'Son of Adam, if cold afflicts him he says hass, and if heat afflicts him he says hass.'
