✧ The sun was eclipsed during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed, and the people were with him. He stood for a long time, about the length of Surah al-Baqarah. Then he bowed for a long time. Then he raised and stood for a long time, but it was shorter than the first standing. Then he bowed for a long time, but it was shorter than the first bowing. Then he prostrated. Then he stood for a long time, but it was shorter than the first standing, and he bowed for a long time, but it was shorter than the first bowing. Then he prostrated. Then he finished, and the sun had become clear. He said, 'The sun and the moon are two signs among Allah's signs. They do not eclipse because of anyone's death or life. When you see that, then remember Allah.' They said, 'O Messenger of Allah, we saw you reach out for something in this station of yours, and then we saw you step back.' He said, 'I saw Paradise — or I was shown Paradise — and I reached out for a bunch of grapes from it. Had I taken it, you would have eaten from it as long as the world remains. And I saw the Fire, and I have never seen a sight like today at all. And I saw that most of its inhabitants are women.' They said, 'For what reason, O Messenger of Allah?' He said, 'Because of their ingratitude.' It was said, 'Are they ungrateful to Allah?' He said, 'They are ungrateful to their husbands and ungrateful for good treatment. If you treated one of them well for a long time and then she saw something from you, she would say, "By Allah, I have never seen any good from you."'
