✧ A Jewish woman came to her and said, 'May Allah protect you from the torment of the grave.' ʿĀʾishah said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, 'Are people truly tried in the grave?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'I seek refuge in Allah.' ʿĀʾishah said: Then the Prophet ﷺ went out for some purpose, and the sun was eclipsed. We went out to the chamber, and the women gathered around us. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came, and that was in the forenoon. He stood to pray and made a long standing. Then he bowed, then raised his head and stood but not as long as the first standing. Then he bowed but not as long as his previous bowing. Then he prostrated. Then he stood for the second rakʿah and did the same, except that his bowing was shorter than in the first rakʿah. Then he prostrated, and the sun became clear. When he finished, he sat on the pulpit and said among other things, 'People are truly tried in their graves like the trial of the Dajjāl.' ʿĀʾishah said: After that, we used to hear him seeking refuge from the trial of the grave.
