Night Prayer

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو فِرَاسٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جُمْعَةَ الْأَصَمُّ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ يَعِيشَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ زُرَارَةَ بْنَ أَوْفَى عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

«كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا عَمِلَ عَمَلًا أَثْبَتَهُ» وَقَالَتْ «كَانَ إِذَا نَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ أَوْ مَرِضَ صَلَّى بِالنَّهَارِ ثِنْتَيْ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً وَمَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَامَ لَيْلَةً حَتَّى الصُّبْحِ وَلَا صَامَ شَهْرًا مُتَتَابِعًا إِلَّا رَمَضَانَ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he did a deed, he would make it a habit. She said: "When he slept through the night or was ill, he would pray twelve rak'ahs during the day. And I did not see the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stand in prayer for an entire night until morning, nor fast a whole month consecutively except Ramadan."
