✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to mix with us a great deal, so much so that he would say to a young brother of mine, “O Abū ʿUmayr, what did the little bird do?” Then the prayer came, so we sprinkled water on a mat of ours, and he prayed on it, and we lined up behind him.

machine translationShuʿbah narrates it, and there is disagreement about it from him. Yaḥyā b. al-Mundhir al-Ḥajarī, a Kūfan, narrated it from Ibn Idrīs, from Shuʿbah, from Jaʿfar b. Iyās, from Anas. Saʿīd b. ʿĀmir contradicted him and narrated it from Shuʿbah, from Qatādah, from Anas. Both are mistaken (wahm); the correct version is from Shuʿbah, from Abū al-Tayyāḥ, from Anas.
