أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ خُزَيْمَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي الْأَشْعَثُ بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ زَهْدَمَ قَالَ

كُنَّا مَعَ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْعَاصِ بِطَبَرِسْتَانَ فَقَالَ أَيُّكُمْ صَلَّى مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ؟ فَقَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ أَنَا قَالَ «فَقَامَ حُذَيْفَةُ وَصَفَّ النَّاسَ خَلْفَهُ صَفَّيْنِ صَفًّا خَلْفَهُ وَصَفًّا مُوَازِيَ الْعَدُوِّ فَصَلَّى بِالَّذِينَ خَلْفَهُ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ هَؤُلَاءِ مَكَانَ هَؤُلَاءِ وَجَاءَ أُولَئِكَ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً وَلَمْ يَقْضُوا»

✧ We were with Sa'id b. al-'As in Tabaristan, and he said, "Which of you prayed the fear prayer with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?" Hudhayfah said, "I did." He said, "Hudhayfah stood and arranged the people behind him in two rows: one row behind him and one row facing the enemy. He prayed one rak'ah with those behind him, then they moved to the place of the others, and those others came and he prayed one rak'ah with them, and they did not make up (anything)."
