أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حِبَّانَ عَنِ ابْنِ مُحَيْرِيزٍ عَنِ الْمُخْدَجِيِّ قَالَ
سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ عَنِ الْوِتْرِ فَقَالَ الْوِتْرُ وَاجِبٌ كَوُجُوبِ الصَّلَاةِ فَأَتَى عُبَادَةُ بْنُ الصَّامِتِ فَذُكِرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ كَذَبَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «خَمْسُ صَلَوَاتٍ افْتَرَضَهُنَّ اللَّهُ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ لَمْ يَنْتَقِصْ مِنْهُنَّ شَيْئًا اسْتِخْفَافًا بِحَقِّهِنَّ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ جَلَّ وَعَلَا جَاعِلٌ لَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَهْدًا أَنْ يُدْخِلَهُ الْجَنَّةَ وَمَنْ جَاءَ بِهِنَّ وَقَدِ انْتَقَصَ مِنْهُنَّ شَيْئًا اسْتِخْفَافًا بِحَقِّهِنَّ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ شَيْءٌ إِنْ شَاءَ عَذَّبَهُ وَإِنْ شَاءَ غَفَرَ لَهُ»

“I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ‘Five prayers that Allah has enjoined upon His slaves, so whoever does them, and does not omit anything out of negligence, on the Day of Resurrection Allah will make a covenant with him that He will admit him to Paradise. But whoever does them but omits something from them out of negligence, will not have such a covenant with Allah; if He wills He will punish him, and if He wills, He will forgive him.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1401)

Ḥabbān, this hadith goes back to Ibn Muḥayrīz, from al-Mukhdajī, from ʿUbādah. ʿUqayl b. Khālid and Muḥammad b. ʿAjlān differed from them in this: they narrated it from Muḥammad b. Yaḥyā b.
