أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الْأَحْوَلُ وَأَيُّوبُ وَحَبِيبُ بْنُ الشَّهِيدِ وَهِشَامٌ عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ سُئِلَ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ فِي الثَّوْبِ الْوَاحِدِ فَقَالَ «أَوَكُلُّكُمْ يَجِدُ ثَوْبَيْنِ» فَلَمَّا كَانَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ قَالَ «إِذَا وَسَّعَ اللَّهُ فَوَسِّعُوا جَمَعَ رَجُلٌ عَلَيْهِ ثِيَابَهُ فَصَلَّى الرَّجُلُ فِي إِزَارٍ وَرِدَاءٍ فِي إِزَارٍ وَقَمِيصٍ فِي إِزَارٍ وَقَبَاءٍ فِي سَرَاوِيلَ وَرِدَاءٍ فِي سَرَاوِيلَ وَقَمِيصٍ فِي سَرَاوِيلَ وَقَبَاءٍ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about praying in a single garment, and he said: 'Does every one of you find two garments?' When it was the time of Umar b. al-Khattab, he said: 'When Allah grants abundance, then be abundant. A man gathered his clothes upon him and prayed: a man in a waist-wrapper and a cloak, in a waist-wrapper and a shirt, in a waist-wrapper and a tunic, in trousers and a cloak, in trousers and a shirt, in trousers and a tunic.'
