✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ died, and Abu Bakr ؓ succeeded him, and those Arabs who disbelieved disbelieved, 'Umar said, "O Abu Bakr, how can you fight the people when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'I have been commanded to fight the people until they say: There is no god but Allah. Whoever says: There is no god but Allah has protected from me his wealth and his life except by its right, and his reckoning is upon Allah'?" Abu Bakr ؓ said, "By Allah, I will fight whoever separates prayer from zakat, for zakat is the right of wealth. By Allah, if they withheld from me a young female goat that they used to give to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I would fight them for withholding it." 'Umar said, "By Allah, it was only when I saw that Allah had opened Abu Bakr's chest to the fighting that I knew it was the truth."

لفظ عناقا أصح أي من رواية من روى عقالا أو أبهمه
machine translationThe wording "ʿanāqan" (a young she-goat) is more sound (aṣaḥḥ), that is, than the narration of the one who narrated "ʿiqālan" (a camel's hobble) or left it unspecified.
