✧ The obligation of Imam's observance

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ نُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذْ سَمِعَ جَلَبَةَ رِجَالٍ فَلَمَّا صَلَّى دَعَاهُمْ فَقَالَ «مَا شَأْنُكُمْ؟ » قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ اسْتَعْجَلْنَا إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ قَالَ «لَا تَسْتَعْجِلُوا إِذَا أَتَيْتُمُ الصَّلَاةَ فَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا سُبِقْتُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا»

✧ While we were praying with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he heard the noise of men. When he finished, he called them and said, 'What is the matter with you?' They said, 'O Messenger of Allah, we hurried to prayer.' He said, 'Do not hurry. When you come to prayer, be calm. Pray what you catch up with, and complete what you were preceded in.'
