أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي عَوْنٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ
قَالَ عُمَرُ لِسَعْدٍ قَدْ شَكَاكَ أَهْلُ الْكُوفَةِ فِي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ حَتَّى فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَقَالَ «أُطِيلُ الْأُولَيَيْنِ وأَحْذِمُ فِي الْأُخْرَيَيْنِ وَمَا آلُو مِنْ صَلَاةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ» فَقَالَ ذَاكَ الظَّنُّ بِكَ
Translation

✧ Umar said to Sa'd, 'The people of Kufa have complained about you in everything, even in prayer.' Sa'd said, 'I lengthen the first two units and am brisk in the last two, and I do not fall short of the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' Umar said, 'That is what was thought of you.'
