أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأَتَأَخَّرُ عَنْ صَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ مِمَّا يُطِيلُ بِنَا فُلَانٌ فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَمَا رَأَيْتُهُ فِي مَوْعِظَةٍ أَشَدَّ غَضَبًا مِنْهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ فَقَالَ «أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ مِنْكُمْ مُنَفِّرِينَ فَأَيُّكُمْ مَا صَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ فَلْيَتَجَوَّزْ فَإِنَّ فِيهِمُ الضَّعِيفَ وَالْكَبِيرَ وَذَا الْحَاجَةِ»

✧ A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I stay behind from the dawn prayer because so-and-so prolongs it for us.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up, and I never saw him angrier in any admonition than he was that day. He said, 'O people, some of you drive others away. Whoever leads the people in prayer, let him be brief, for among them are the weak, the elderly, and those with needs.'
