✧ The obligatory congregational prayer and the excuses that allow skipping it

أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ

أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ نَزَلَ بِضَجْنَانَ لَيْلَةً بَارِدَةً فَأَمَرَهُمْ أَنْ يُصَلُّوا فِي الرِّحَالِ وَحَدَّثَنَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا نَزَلَ فِي مَوْضِعٍ فِي اللَّيْلَةِ الْبَارِدَةِ «أَمَرَهُمْ أَنْ يُصَلُّوا فِي الرِّحَالِ»

✧ Ibn ʿUmar stopped at Ḍajnān on a cold night and ordered them to pray in their dwellings, and he told us that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he stopped at a place on a cold night, “would order them to pray in their dwellings.”
