✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in a prayer in which he recited aloud. When he said the salam, he said: “Did any of you recite with me just now?” They said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah. He said: “I say: What is the matter with me that I am contended with regarding the Qur’an?”

machine translationThis is a well-known report (khabar) of al-Zuhrī, from the narration of his students, from Ibn Ukaymah, from Abū Hurayrah. Al-Awzāʿī erred in it, for even the swiftest horse stumbles: he said, "from al-Zuhrī, from Saʿīd b. al-Musayyab." Al-Walīd b. Muslim knew that he had erred, so he said, "from the one who heard Abū Hurayrah," and did not mention Saʿīd.
