✧ The virtue of the five daily prayers

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمَدِينِيِّ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ خَيْرِ بْنِ نُعَيْمٍ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ هُبَيْرَةَ السَّبَائِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي تَمِيمٍ الْجَيْشَانِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي بَصْرَةَ الْغِفَارِيِّ قَالَ

صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ صَلَاةَ الْعَصْرِ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةَ عُرِضَتْ عَلَى مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ فَتَوَانَوْا فِيهَا وَتَرَكُوهَا فَمَنْ صَلَّاهَا مِنْهُمْ ضُعِّفَ لَهُ أَجْرُهَا مَرَّتَيْنِ وَلَا صَلَاةَ بَعْدَهَا حَتَّى يُرَى الشَّاهِدُ» وَالشَّاهِدُ النَّجْمُ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in the afternoon prayer, then said: “This prayer was presented to those before you, but they neglected it and abandoned it. Whoever among them prays it will have his reward doubled twice, and there is no prayer after it until the witness is seen”—and the witness is the star.
