أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ أَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ
«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ خَرَجَ فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ فَكَانَ إِذَا ارْتَحَلَ قَبْلَ زَيْغِ الشَّمْسِ أَخَّرَ الظُّهْرَ حَتَّى يَجْمَعَهَا إِلَى الْعَصْرِ فَيُصَلِّيهِمَا جَمِيعًا وَإِذَا ارْتَحَلَ بَعْدَ زَيْغِ الشَّمْسِ صَلَّى الظُّهْرَ وَالْعَصْرَ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ سَارَ وَكَانَ إِذَا ارْتَحَلَ قَبْلَ الْمَغْرِبِ أَخَّرَ الْمَغْرِبَ حَتَّى يُصَلِّيَهَا مَعَ الْعِشَاءِ وَإِذَا ارْتَحَلَ بَعْدَ الْمَغْرِبِ عَجَّلَ الْعِشَاءَ وَصَلَّاهَا مَعَ الْمَغْرِبِ»

✧ The Prophet ﷺ went out on the expedition of Tabūk. When he departed before the sun declined, he delayed ẓuhr until he combined it with ʿaṣr and prayed them together; and when he departed after the sun declined, he prayed ẓuhr and ʿaṣr together, then set out. And when he departed before maghrib, he delayed maghrib until he prayed it with ʿishāʾ; and when he departed after maghrib, he hastened ʿishāʾ and prayed it with maghrib.
