✧ I came to Ṣafwān b. ʿAssāl al-Murādī, and he said, “What brought you?” I said, “Seeking knowledge.” He said, “The angels lower their wings for the seeker of knowledge, out of pleasure at what he seeks.” I said, “There is something itching in my mind about wiping over the two khuffs after defecation and urination, and you were one of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ, so I came to ask you: did you hear anything from him about that?” He said, “Yes. He would command us, when we were travelling or on a journey, not to remove our khuffs for three days and their nights, except for janabah, but not for defecation, urination, or sleep.”
