✧ Nullifiers of Wudu

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُلَازِمُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بَدْرٍ الْحَنَفِيُّ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ طَلْقٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

خَرَجْنَا سِتَّةً وَفْدًا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ خَمْسَةٌ مِنْ بَنِي حَنِيفَةَ وَرَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي ضُبَيْعَةَ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ حَتَّى قَدِمْنَا عَلَى نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَبَايَعْنَاهُ وَصَلَّيْنَا مَعَهُ وَأَخْبَرْنَاهُ أَنَّ بِأَرْضِنَا بَيْعَةً لَنَا وَاسْتَوْهَبْنَاهُ مِنْ فَضْلِ طُهُورِهِ فَدَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَتَوَضَّأَ مِنْهُ وَتَمَضْمَضَ وَصَبَّ لَنَا فِي إِدَاوَةٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ «اذْهَبُوا بِهَذَا الْمَاءِ فَإِذَا قَدِمْتُمْ بَلَدَكُمْ فَاكْسِرُوا بِيعَتَكُمْ ثُمَّ انْضَحُوا مَكَانَهَا مِنْ هَذَا الْمَاءِ وَاتَّخِذُوا مَكَانَهَا مَسْجِدًا» فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ الْبَلَدُ بَعِيدٌ وَالْمَاءُ يَنْشَفُ قَالَ «فَأَمِدُّوهُ مِنَ الْمَاءِ فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَزِيدُهُ إِلَّا طِيبًا»

✧ We went out as a delegation of six to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: five from Banu Hanifah and a man from Banu Dubay'ah b. Rabi'ah, until we arrived before the Prophet of Allah ﷺ. We pledged allegiance to him, prayed with him, and told him that in our land there was a church belonging to us. We asked him for a gift from the leftover of his purification water. He called for water, performed wudu' with it, rinsed his mouth, and poured for us into a water skin. Then he said: "Go with this water, and when you reach your town, break your church, then sprinkle its place with this water, and take it as a mosque." We said: "O Messenger of Allah, the town is far and the water will dry up." He said: "Then replenish it with water, for it will only increase it in pleasantness."
