✧ The admonition to prevent reliance on the writings of a person without preserving them

أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ سَلْمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَامِرُ بْنُ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ

«إِنَّ أَعْظَمَ النَّاسِ فِي الْمُسْلِمِينَ جُرْمًا مَنْ سَأَلَ عَنْ مَسْأَلَةٍ لَمْ تُحَرَّمْ فَحُرِّمَ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِينَ مِنْ أَجْلِ مَسْأَلَتِهِ»

✧ “Indeed, the greatest sinner among the Muslims is one who asks about a matter that was not forbidden, and then it becomes forbidden for the Muslims because of his asking.”
