Concerning the fear prayer, he said: The imam stands facing the qiblah with one group with him, while another group faces the enemy. He prays one rak‘ah with those who are with him. When he stands up, he remains standing, and those behind him pray one rak‘ah for themselves, prostrate, and give the salam. Then they go off until they take the place of their brothers who are facing the enemy, and the others return on their heels and stand behind the imam. He prays another rak‘ah with them, then gives the salam, and those behind him stand up, bow for themselves, prostrate, and give the salam.
