حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ قَالَ:
خَاصَمَ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ الْخَوَارِجَ، فَرَجَعَ مَنْ رَجَعَ مِنْهُمْ، وَأَبَتْ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْهُمْ أَنْ يَرْجِعُوا، فَأَرْسَلَ عُمَرُ رَجُلًا عَلَى خَيْلٍ وَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ حَيْثُ يَرْتَحِلُونَ، وَلَا يُحَرِّكُهُمْ وَلَا يُهَيِّجُهُمْ، فَإِنْ هُمْ قَتَلُوا وَأَفْسَدُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ: فَابْسُطْ [١]عَلَيْهِمْ وَقَاتِلْهُمْ، وَإِنْ هُمْ لَمْ يَقْتُلُوا، وَلَمْ يُفْسِدُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ: فَدَعْهُمْ يَسِيرُونَ
