✧ What Came Regarding the Death of the Prophet ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةَ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ:

لَمَّا قُبِضَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ، قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ لِعُمَرَ، أَوْ عُمَرُ لِأَبِي بَكْرٍ: «انْطَلِقْ بِنَا إِلَى أُمِّ أَيْمَنَ نَزُورُهَا». فَانْطَلَقَا إِلَيْهَا، فَجَعَلَتْ تَبْكِي، فَقَالَا لَهَا: «يَا أُمَّ أَيْمَنَ، إِنَّ مَا عِنْدَ اللهِ خَيْرٌ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ». فَقَالَتْ: «قَدْ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّ مَا عِنْدَ اللهِ خَيْرٌ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، وَلَكِنِّي أَبْكِي عَلَى خَبَرِ السَّمَاءِ، انْقَطَعَ عَنَّا». فَهَيَّجَتْهُمَا عَلَى الْبُكَاءِ؛ فَجَعَلَا يَبْكِيَانِ مَعَهَا.

When the Prophet ﷺ died, Abu Bakr said to Umar—or Umar said to Abu Bakr—“Come, let us go to Umm Ayman and visit her.” They went to her, and she began to weep. They said to her, “Umm Ayman, what is with Allah is better for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.” She said, “I know that what is with Allah is better for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, but I am weeping because the news from heaven has been cut off from us.” She stirred them both to tears, and they began weeping with her.
