حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ قَالَ:
لَمَّا قَدِمَ جَعْفَرٌ مِنْ أَرْضِ الْحَبَشَةِ، لَقِيَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ عُمَيْسٍ فَقَالَ لَهَا: سَبَقْنَاكُمْ بِالْهِجْرَةِ وَنَحْنُ أَفْضَلُ مِنْكُمْ، قَالَتْ: لَا أَرْجِعُ حَتَّى آتِيَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ، قَالَ: فَدَخَلَتُ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، لَقِيتُ عُمَرَ فَزَعَمَ أَنَّهُ أَفْضَلُ مِنَّا، وَأَنَّهُمْ سَبَقُونَا بِالْهِجْرَةِ ؟ قَالَتْ: قَالَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ [١]: بَلْ أَنْتُمْ هَاجَرْتُمْ مَرَّتَيْنِ

When Jaʿfar came from the land of Abyssinia, ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb met Asmāʾ bint ʿUmays and said to her: "We preceded you in emigration, and we are better than you." She said: "I will not go back until I come to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." She said: So I entered upon him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I met ʿUmar, and he claimed that he is better than us, and that they preceded us in emigration?" She said: The Prophet of Allah ﷺ [1] said: "Rather, you emigrated twice."
