Machine translation, not reviewed

The most helpful of character traits for religion is detachment from this world; the swiftest of them to bring ruin is following desire. Part of following desire is craving this world, and part of craving this world is love of wealth and status, and part of love of wealth and status is treating the forbidden things as lawful, and because of treating the forbidden things as lawful, Allah becomes angry. And the anger of Allah is a disease for which there is no cure except the pleasure of Allah, and the pleasure of Allah is a cure with which no disease can harm. Whoever wants to please his Lord must displease his own self, and whoever does not displease his own self cannot please his Lord. If every time something of his religion becomes heavy for a person he abandons it, it will soon be that nothing remains with him.
