حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ عَوْفٍ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الرَّبَعِيِّ قَالَ:
كَانَ فِي بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ رَجُلٌ، وَكَانَ مَغْمُورًا فِي الْعِلْمِ، وَإِنَّهُ ابْتَدَعَ بِدْعَةً، فَدَعَا النَّاسَ فَاتُّبِعَ، وَإِنَّهُ تَذَكَّرَ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ فَقَالَ: هَبْ هَؤُلَاءِ النَّاسَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ مَا ابْتَدَعْتَ، أَلَيْسَ قَدْ عَلِمَ اللهُ مَا ابْتَدَعْتَ ؟ قَالَ: فَبَلَغَ مِنْ تَوْبَتِهِ أَنْ حَرَقَ [١]تَرْقُوَتَهُ، وَجَعَلَ فِيهَا سِلْسِلَةً وَرَبَطَهَا بِسَارِيَةٍ مِنْ سَوَارِي الْمَسْجِدِ، قَالَ: لَا أَنْزِعُهَا حَتَّى يُتَابَ عَلَيَّ ! قَالَ: فَأَوْحَى اللهُ إِلَى نَبِيٍّ مِنْ أَنْبِيَاءِ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ، وَكَانَ لَا يَسْتَنْكِرُ بِالْوَحْيِ: أَنْ قُلْ لِفُلَانٍ: لَوْ أَنَّ ذَنْبَكَ كَانَ فِيمَا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكَ لَغَفَرْتُ لَكَ، وَلَكِنْ كَيْفَ بِمَنْ أَضْلَلْتَ مِنْ عِبَادِي ؟ فَدَخَلَ [٢]النَّارَ
