That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came one day from al-ʿĀliyah, and when he passed by the mosque of Banū Muʿāwiyah, he entered and prayed two rakʿahs in it, and we prayed with him. He supplicated to his Lord for a long time, then turned to us and said: "I asked my Lord for three things; He granted me two and withheld one from me. I asked my Lord not to destroy my nation by famine, and He granted it to me. I asked Him not to destroy my nation by drowning, and He granted it to me. And I asked Him not to make their might be among themselves, but it was denied to me."
