لَمَّا أَرَادَ عُثْمَانُ أَنْ يَجْلِدَ الْوَلِيدَ قَالَ لِطَلْحَةَ: قُمْ فَاجْلِدْهُ، قَالَ: إِنِّي لَمْ أَكُنْ مِنَ الْجَلَّادِينَ، فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ عَلِيٌّ فَجَلَدَهُ، فَجَعَلَ الْوَلِيدُ يَقُولُ لِعَلِيٍّ: أَنَا صَاحِبُ مَكِينَةَ
