He used to say in his supplication: "O Allah, I ask You by Your mercy with which You encompassed everything; by Your might with which You humbled everything, before which everything submitted to You, and everything was humbled before You; by Your overwhelming power with which You overcame everything; by Your greatness with which You overcame everything; by Your authority with which You filled everything; by Your strength which nothing can withstand; by Your light by which everything is illuminated; by Your knowledge which encompasses everything; by Your name with which everything begins [2]; and by Your Face that remains after the perishing of everything. O Light, O Most Holy, O Light, O Most Holy," three times, "O First of the first, and O Last of the last, O Allah, O Most Merciful, O Most Compassionate: forgive me the sins that bring down retribution; forgive me the sins that tear away protections [3]; forgive me the sins that bring about regret; forgive me the sins that withhold provisions; forgive me the sins that change blessings; forgive me the sins that bring down affliction and give the enemies the upper hand; forgive me the sins that withhold the rain of the sky, hasten destruction, darken the air, and cause supplication to be rejected; and forgive me the sins that lead back to the Fire."
