That Maʿbad b. Ḥuzābah al-Makhzūmī fell ill and collapsed on the road to Mecca. His son went out to the water where his father had collapsed, and found Ibn ʿAbbās, Ibn ʿUmar and Marwān b. al-Ḥakam. Each of them [1]was told [2]of the place where his father had collapsed and what had befallen him, and each of them [3]said: He should treat himself with whatever will set him right, and when he recovers he should perform ʿumrah, thereby releasing himself from the sanctity of the iḥrām of ḥajj. Then if the ḥajj season reaches him, he must perform the ḥajj and offer whatever sacrificial animal is easily available.
