Genealogy of Our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and Some Accounts of His Forefathers and Ancestors

Translation

✧ [The Children of Maʿadd] Ibn Isḥāq said: Maʿadd b. ʿAdnān begot four individuals: Nizār b. Maʿadd, Quḍāʿah b. Maʿadd—and Quḍāʿah was the firstborn of Maʿadd, by whom he was given the kunyah, as they claim—Qunuṣ b. Maʿadd, and Iyād b. Maʿadd. As for Quḍāʿah, they went south to Ḥimyar b. Sabaʾ—and the name of Sabaʾ was ʿAbd Shams; he was only called Sabaʾ because he was the first to take captives (sabā) among the Arabs—b. Yashjub b. Yaʿrub b. Qaḥṭān.
