Then the year 358 AH began
وَفِيهَا اشْتَدَّ الْغَلَاءُ بِالْعِرَاقِ، وَاضْطَرَبَ النَّاسُ، فَسَعَّرَ السُّلْطَانُ الطَّعَامَ، فَاشْتَدَّ الْبَلَاءُ، فَدَعَتْهُ الضَّرُورَةُ إِلَى إِزَالَةِ التَّسْعِيرِ، فَسَهَّلَ الْأَمْرَ، وَخَرَجَ النَّاسُ مِنَ الْعِرَاقِ إِلَى الْمَوْصِلِ وَالشَّامِ وَخُرَاسَانَ مِنَ الْغَلَاءِ.
Translation
✧ In this year, the high prices intensified in Iraq, and the people became agitated. The sultan fixed the prices of food, and the affliction became severe, so necessity called upon him to remove the price-fixing, and he eased the matter. The people left Iraq for Mosul, Syria, and Khurasan because of the high prices.
