Then the year 348 AH began
وَفِيهَا قَلَّتِ الْأَمْطَارُ، وَغَلَتِ الْأَسْعَارُ، وَاسْتَسْقَى النَّاسُ فَلَمْ يُسْقَوْا، وَظَهَرَ جَرَادٌ عَظِيمٌ فِي آذَارَ، فَأَكَلَ مَا نَبَتَ مِنَ الْخُضْرَاوَاتِ، فَاشْتَدَّ الْأَمْرُ جِدًّا، فَمَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ كَانَ، وَمَا لَمْ يَشَأْ لَمْ يَكُنْ.
Translation
✧ In this year, rains became scarce, prices rose, and the people prayed for rain but were not given it. A great swarm of locusts appeared in Ādhār and devoured what had sprouted of green crops, so the matter became extremely severe. Whatever Allah willed came to pass, and whatever He did not will did not come to be.
