Then the year 346 AH began
وَفِيهَا تَجَهَّزَ مُعِزُّ الدَّوْلَةِ وَسَارَ نَحْوَ الْمَوْصِلِ لِقَصْدِ نَاصِرِ الدَّوْلَةِ بِسَبَبِ مَا فَعَلَهُ، فَرَاسَلَهُ نَاصِرُ الدَّوْلَةِ، وَبَذَلَ لَهُ مَالًا، وَضَمِنَ الْبِلَادَ مِنْهُ كُلَّ سَنَةٍ بِأَلْفَيْ أَلْفِ دِرْهَمٍ، وَحُمِلَ إِلَيْهِ مِثْلُهَا، فَعَادَ مُعِزُّ الدَّوْلَةِ بِسَبَبِ خَرَابِ بِلَادِهِ لِلْفِتْنَةِ الْمَذْكُورَةِ، وَلِأَنَّهُ لَمْ يَثِقْ بِأَصْحَابِهِ. ثُمَّ إِنَّ نَاصِرَ الدَّوْلَةِ مَنَعَ حَمْلَ الْمَالِ، فَسَارَ إِلَيْهِ مُعِزُّ الدَّوْلَةِ عَلَى مَا نَذْكُرُهُ.
Translation
✧ In this year Muʿizz al-Dawlah made preparations and marched toward al-Mawṣil to move against Nāṣir al-Dawlah on account of what he had done. Nāṣir al-Dawlah then corresponded with him, offered him money, and guaranteed the lands to him every year for two million dirhams, and the like of that was conveyed to him. Muʿizz al-Dawlah returned because of the ruin of his lands due to the aforementioned strife, and because he did not trust his own followers. Then Nāṣir al-Dawlah withheld the conveyance of the money, so Muʿizz al-Dawlah marched against him, as we shall relate.
