فِيهَا قَصَدَ صَاحِبُ عُمَانَ الْبَصْرَةَ لِيَأْخُذَهَا فِي مَرَاكِبَ كَثِيرَةٍ ، وَجَاءَ لِنَصْرِهِ أَبُو يَعْقُوبَ الْهَجَرِيُّ، فَمَانَعَهُ عَنْهَا الْوَزِيرُ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُهَلَّبِيُّ وَصَدَّهُ عَنْهَا، وَأَسَرَ جَمَاعَةً مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ وَسَبَى كَثِيرًا مِنْ مَرَاكِبِهِ، فَسَاقَهَا مَعَهُ فِي دِجْلَةَ، وَدَخَلَ بِهَا إِلَى بَغْدَادَ فِي أُبَّهَةٍ عَظِيمَةٍ، وَلِلَّهِ الْحَمْدُ.
Translation
✧ In this year, the ruler of ʿUmān made for al-Baṣrah to take it with many ships, and Abū Yaʿqūb al-Hajarī came to his aid. But the vizier Abū Muḥammad al-Muhallabī prevented him from it and repelled him, and he captured a group of his companions and seized many of his ships, which he then led with him along the Tigris. And he entered Baghdad with them in great pomp, and to God belongs the praise.
